"you know, i am starting to think..."

preface: you'll notice it's been a little while since my last entry. i could try to deny that it's because i promised this entry would have nothing to do with you-know-who, but that just wouldn't be true. so tonight i have something to write about, but i'm not going to avoid dropping the j-bomb because... because i can do whatever i want. jeffrey. jeff jeff jeffrey. if you don't like it, nobody's making you read this.

so this past weekend my girl shawna called me basically out of nowhere. she's a roommate from a few years ago, and even though we live just a few blocks away, i hardly ever see her mostly 'cause she's always got a boy. i've been wanting to hang out with her, so when she asked if i wanted to tonight, i was hardly gonna pass up the opportunity. she told me we were going on a night hike. as it turns out, "we" was me, shawna, brandon (her latest boy), and brandon's roommate john.

a little interjection here. aside from the fact that i am not looking for a boy 'cause i like the one i kinda got (i guess i need to keep shawna more updated) there are few things in life i hate more than being set up. also, it is starting to be destructive to my self-image. i mean, the boys i get set up with... honestly! i never like them, and they often bug or disgust me. are these the kind of boys people think go well with me? or do they not care enough to think a little before they ruin a perfectly good night by sending a boy after me who sports cheat notes scrawled on his hand or who emits a foul odor?

so anyways, the four of us went on a night hike up into the mountains. we built a fire in a meadow we came to (i use the term "we" loosely since these alleged former boy scouts couldn't start a fire if they had a blow torch). john had brought a telescope, and we checked out jupiter. we could even see some of its moons which was very cool. i'd say more about it, but besides hiking back down, that's about all there is to say. oh yeah, i wasn't very nice to either of the boys. for some reason i was on a roll with the cut-downs. i think i was kind a upset at the whole situation, but i like shawna, so i wasn't gonna be mean to her. everyone laughed, but i don't know them well enough to know if they could really take it or if i upset them, so it kinda bothers me thinking about it now.

after that, we went to their apartment where, thank goodness, they had another roommate besides weirdo john (since i haven't mentioned it yet, i'll stick it in here: john's a kind of smelly, awkward, boring, techie, geek-like kind of guy who is very, very nice and good. bleh!) after we had some pizza, brandon decided it was karaoke time. yes, the have an entire setup right down to a black light screwed into their ceiling fan. it was funny except that john seemed more like he was trying to be impressive than that he was trying to have fun. blake had a bunch of punk music from which he sang a few selections. that worked for me. they kept trying to get me to sing, but i wasn't going to have any part of it. finally, in an attempt to shut them up, i said i'd sing if they had some dance hall crashers for me (i knew they wouldn't), but just my luck, they had a super speedy internet connection, gnutella, and a portable mp3 player which hooked up to the stereo. so i sang "lost again." and they liked it! i'm glad that's all they asked me to do 'cause i'm afraid i may have become addicted.

anyways, i snuck in a few minutes on their 'puter to talk to my jeffrey 'cause i missed him. i get to see him again in less than two weeks! it's already starting to make me sneeze.
