poor me

hi, everyone! it has been far too long since i updated this. i'm sorry. i have a good excuse which will be unveiled during the course of this entry, so pay attention!

what i've got here is an exchange of emails between me and a coworker. my commentary on the situation is the stuff in green.

i was going through my old email at work on may 28.  while i was doing so, i came across an email from a guy named dale who works with me.  he sent it to everyone asking if anyone could draw a picture of a picture that his fiancée really liked to give to her as a present. it didn't really gain any significance until i suddenly received this email:

no, you didn't miss anything.  it didn't have a body. just the subject... and i don't even ever really talk to this guy. the only thing i can think of is that i mighta looked kinda cute that day.

i didn't want to be rude and totally ignore it, so i waited until right before i went home (after he'd gone home) so that it wouldn't turn into an all day back and forth kind of thing and responded with this:

Subject: Hi Dale

nothing more than what he'd sent.  i didn't want to encourage anything (although i guess just replying at all did that anyways).

then as soon as he got in the next day, he sent this:

How are you today?

aarg.  now what do i do? he's apparently going somewhere with this... and i'm pretty sure it's not somewhere i want to go.

so i tried to turn it to work related stuff.

his reply (8 minutes later):

Oh you got the email?  No prob.  Didn’t really understand it.  No resolution?  What is up with that.

so i tried being curt hoping to end it again waiting until the last moment possible to send it.

i'm retarded is all.

i'm beginning to think i should've added, "have a nice life," because this is the next e-mail i got:

you're not retarded.  Hey do you know how to rollerblade?

ack!  if this is not an obvious start towards asking me out, i don't know what is. he's a nice guy and all, but i already have a boy that i'm crazy about.

so i tried to discourage it by showing my disinterest.

Thanks, and no.  Maybe I'm not retarded, but I am a klutz.

it didn't work. ten minutes later:

I gotcha.  so what do you like to do?

again i waited to answer also to show my disinterest.

three hours later:

so what do you do for fun.  you never answered.

i went with the curtness again in my response to his question and threw in a twist which would require some figuring things out on his end.

sorry.  i left early yesterday to go to my sister's graduation.  i usually hang out with my family or my roommates... well, most of the time lately i'm in front of my new 'puter building on my website.  it's not done, but you can look: http://www.shinkick.com.

i hoped he'd go to my site, see the page about me, read that i adore jeffrey, and understand that i have a boy, but nooooooo.

I am a fan of your website.  I can really see that you have a huge love for your family.  That is so cool when families can be so close.  I went home to Montana last weekend and my family is falling apart.  My grandma is about to pass away, "so she says" so she wants her kids to come over and put their names on all this stuff if they want it.  This is going to be such a huge mess.  Maybe we could go out some time and compare our families.

too much information! and he blatantly asked me out. can't dance around it anymore. plus, he either totally missed the fact that i have a boy, or he's choosing not to care.

so again i waited as long as i could to answer then threw into the gears the only rock i had left besides telling him, "leave me alone. i have a boyfriend."

so i'm a little confused... i thought you were engaged.

well, the next day he replied saying that that didn't work out "fortunately" (which makes him the third ex-engaged guy at work to ask me out). i haven't written anything back yet. i guess i'm hoping somebody will tell him i have a boy. i thought most of them knew.

bleh. somebody help me!

aaanyways, in case you didn't catch it, i now have my very own website: shinkick.com! it's been hogging my spare time lately (that and talking to my jeffrey) which is why updates have been scarce (i update my blog more frequently with random little things if you wanna check that out).  it's not done, but there's enough there to enjoy it. i hope if you check it out, that you do (enjoy it, that is).

happy june!
