what a weekend!
ah, so much to say. let's break this down. thanksgiving:
- for thanksgiving i went with jeff to his mom's sister's late husband's brother's house. it was fabulous especially since i'm not the biggest fan of traditional thanksgiving food, and they had, in addition to the regular stuff, a few very delicious chinese dishes. plus, jeff's mom's sister's late husband's mom, who's like 90, unprovokedly said that i was a nice girl. from someone who's been around that long, i took it as a great compliment.
visit from crazy:
- friday my sister, crazy, came down from utah with her husband, brian, and his brother and sister to visit me. my parents deputized her to spy for them since they've never met my jeffrey (none of my family has met any of my boyfriends... that's kinda weird). plus, they told her to scope out my place. i'm gonna be in big trouble because she's gonna tell my mom that i had no semblance of food anywhere in my place. not even ice cubes.
- crazy brought me dresses and shoes that she and my sisters had worn to formal affairs to choose from for my upcoming 25th anniversary, black tie, big deal, company holiday party. we played dress up, and she and her sister-in-law brainstormed about hair and jewelry options. thank goodness for them. kendra wants me to wear her completely sequined aqua blue dress, but jeff thinks it's over-the-top (he also does not want to wear a tux). he wants me to wear the dark blue one. i still have not decided. check them out and tell me what you think.
- we (crazy, brian, his brother and sister, jeff, and i) went to disneyland on saturday (i fear that if there was no disneyland here, crazy wouldn't have been able to convince brian to come to visit me 'cause he's a punk like that). it was my first time. i had lots of fun, but that was mostly 'cause i got to spend the day with two of my most favoritest people (that would be crazy and jeff... i know you thought one of them would be brian, but you were wrong).
- disneyland:
- i think disneyland in general is kinda overrated. pirates of the carribean was pretty cool and toad's wild ride was fun. you get hit by a train and die and go to hell in the end (when jeff told me that before we went on it, i thought he was kidding). when we got off, crazy said to the "cast member" running the ride, "i went to hell," and he was like, "yeah. sorry about that." we only saw two characters all day - belle and the beast who made a scheduled appearance, and you had to wait in a big line to get anywhere near them. whatever happened to bumping into mickey and donald by chance like they show in the commercials? we didn't even see goofy; i felt gyped. also, do not wait in any sort of line to go on the monorail. it sucks. the thing that bothered me the most, though, was that they had a giant christmas tree which was real, but they had painted it entirely white and decorated it in fall colors. what is wrong with people?
- it's funny how politically incorrect that place is. in pirates of the carribean they have drunk pirates shooting each other and chasing women around the taverns and they have wenches for sale, in toad's wild ride you go to hell, and it's a small world is nothing if not a perpetuation of racial stereotypes. i would be perfectly fine with all of this, even proud of disneyland for pooh-poohing the whole idea of political correctness except that in it's a small world they had "merry christmas" written in a whole bunch of languages, but nowhere in english. in english they said, "happy holidays."
texas boys:
- a guy i knew in texas who i haven't spoken to since long before i left
there over a year ago (and who, frankly, i would love to forget entirely) IMed
me this weekend. he didn't have much to say except to find out what i was up
to and to tell me to let him know if ever i got married so he could cross me
off his list of things he thinks about while having sex. [insert gagging
noises here] it took a nice, long shower to get that one off entirely. why
would he think he could say something like that to me? plus, why does it make
a difference if i'm married? it's not like i actually have anything to do with
it. he is so blocked.
- another guy from texas wrote me an email. this communication, on the other hand, made me happy sauf a little bit of freak-outedness 'cause he told me that he knows about and has read both of my diaries. but it's okay 'cause he likes me anyway.
other:
- ben and alicia are moving to las vegas with my two nephews this very month
(barring any unforeseen obstacles)! this means they will only be 4 hours away
from me, and i can visit them on weekends!!!
p.s.- i maked a new guestbook. sign it.
